The trek to Machu Picchu regardless of the path is tough. You are sore, exhausted, and plain gross after camping for 3+ days without a shower. Keeping in mind of course that it is also the most rewarding experience I've had. So naturally the best way to end such challenging days is to indulge in luxury. Tambo Del Inka is a secluded 5-star resort buried in the Sacred Valley of Peru. The scenic resort is surrounded by sweeping mountains and the cleanest air imaginable.
Even better, the resort has its own garden of fresh veggies that are used at the restaurants. Incredibly fresh local quinoa, carrots, tomatoes, avocados and so much more are staples on the every menu here. They have this quinoa dish available for room service with veggies I am utterly obsessed with. I ordered probably 6 over the course of the weekend but gobbled them up too fast before taking a photo.
We booked this resort using SPG points so it didn't cost us a thing. This allowed some wiggle room to rack up on room service and spa treatments - much needed after that trek :)
Scrappy morning breakfast! Must have slept 13 hours :)
The cozy resort feels like a modern cabin with log structures and glass walls. Get cozy by the fire in the lobby or hang by the half-indoor pool at the spa. I had an amazing massage after our trek that admittedly I was squirming from because my calves were SO sore!
The Sacred Valley is part of Urubamba, Peru. It is the only hotel in the Sacred Valley with a private train to and from Machu Picchu. Finish your trek or Machu Picchu tour in Aguas Calientes (the town where you access MP) and take a train or car direct. A hot shower and white fluffy bed here will never have felt better after that incredible journey!
